Before you panic and check your computer for lost data, let me just reassure you a little. Microsoft had not yet started the automatic rollout, but only opened up for manually retrieving the update and installing it.
However, if you have done so, check if you have lost data as well.
The days after the first updates were installed, social media, including Twitter, Reddit, and even Microsoft’s own support forum, users complained that the update process, deleted their documents, user profiles, images and music.
And there seems to be some trueth in the chatter. For Microsoft has confirmed that they have postponed the roll-out of Windows 10 October 2018 update. On their own Windows 10 update page, they have written that they have paused the rollup while investigating the errors and that they will resume after they fix any errors and bugs.
So if you have downloaded Windows October 10, 2018 update, please do not update your Windows 10, ok? It really can give you problems. Wait for Windows itself to download the necessary files to you.
