Now it’s no longer enough for Samsung to deliver smartphones and tablets (and refrigerators, robots, ships and much, much more), now the Koreans are also entering the laptops market and the Galaxy Book S is going for the gold from the first go.
It is very clear that they would like to deliver a laptop that goes after the same customer segment as the MacBook Air.
The Galaxy Book S is made in collaboration with Microsoft and Qualcomm, runs on Windows 10, does not have an Intel chip, but instead a Qualcomm mobile chip.
This means, among other things, that the battery life will be impressively long, up to 23 hours on a charge, if we can trust Samsung.
It has a single USB port on each side of the screen and because it is based on Qualcomm’s chip, you can use the charger included with the Note10.
At the same time, Samsung has managed to keep the weight down. The Galaxy Book S weighs less than 1kg, so it’s not Book S that hurts your shoulder when you carry your computer bag.
So here are the specifications:
- Operating system: Windows 10 Home / Pro
- Display: 13.3 ”FDH TFT
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx
- Memory: 8GB
- Storage: 256 / 512GB
- Battery: 42Wh
But – this is a laptop for work – it hardly has the power to run games.
The price sounds very attractive; about $ 1,000, which is about $ 6,600. It will be on the streets sometime during September.
